Why Tele-Mental Heatlh

Finding in-person mental health counseling that fits your schedule can be complicated.  Tele-mental health provides an opportunity for you to access counseling when and where you can.  You can login on a computer, phone, or tablet as long as you are in a safe and private location with access to Wi-Fi using the secure client portal.  Additionally, tele-mental health provides access to counseling for people and communities where access to counseling services is limited and difficult to find in-person.

What to Expect with Tele-Mental Health

This may be your first time in counseling or using tele-mental health.  Tele-mental health provides a very similar experience to in-person counseling, all you need is access to Wi-Fi and a device.  Remember that this is your counseling session and is meant to be helpful for you.  Dr. Peterson will ask quite a few questions to better understand what your concerns are, so he can propose a way forward with finding a path of growth, healing, and change.

How to Prepare for Tele-Mental Health

You do not need to do anything special to prepare.  Start your session in a private area where you will not be distracted, having headphones or earbuds can make the conversation more private.  Make sure you cover the things you want to talk about in your first session.  Some people find it helpful to write down a few notes on how come you are seeking help, such as, what feelings or experiences brought you to counseling, or what are you hoping to change in your life by coming to counseling?
